Fred’s Walk the Bay for Parkinson’s 2021

We’re back!

After such a challenging year, we’re so pleased to announce that Fred’s Walk the Bay for Parkinson’s is happening again on Sunday 11th April, at Wilkinson’s Point, Glenorchy, starting at 9.30 am.

Once again, we’re offering 3 walks, catering for all levels of fitness: 1km around the colourful bridges, 3km to Montrose Bay High School and 7.6km to MONA (all return).  Children (under 18) are free and can bring their bikes and scooters.  Well behaved dogs are also welcome.  Don’t forget to wear a ‘splash of purple’!!

Is this event COVID-safe?

We have presented our plans to the Department of Health, who have given us the go-ahead. We encourage anybody who is feeling unwell on the day, or who has been in contact with a COVID case to stay home.

We will also be using the following strategies:

  • Hand sanitiser on site for all attendees
  • Encouraging walkers to maintain a 1.5-metre distance
  • We’ll be making the most of the outdoor space we have, so people don’t need to cluster in together.
  • The three walks will have staggered starts to avoid large crowds in one place.
  • We won’t be having market or information stalls as we have had in previous years. This is to free up space in the Pavillion to allow more people to gather together with appropriate social distancing.
